I've had many bibles over the years but none ever stuck around for long because either it was paperback or I couldn't understand the translation. I really wanted a bible that would be my permanent bible that I could keep for years and highlight, write, etc in. This bible is it! I love that is a hardcover bible and it had an 1 inch margin that you can write notes in. The front cover of the bible is a design of Proverbs 3:5-6 I personally like it but if you want the look of a more traditional bible you won't like it.PROS: hardcover & sturdy, nice journaling space on the side to write quick notes, adds more to the reading experience with featured drawings of verses, one column text meaning it's not too much on one page and the font is big enough to read without hurting your eyes. It also comes with a cute satin bookmark that is attached to it so you can keep your place!CONS: there is only one con (hence only one start deducted) I have is the pages are still thin like every other bible. So be careful because yes they will/may rip if you're turning too fast. Yes markers and highlighters will bleed through. I used a special non-bleed through bible highlighter and it still showed through.

I first bought the Audible version, only to find they didn't separate the chapters into tracks. Since faith does indeed come from hearing the Word of God (as well as reading it!), I tried again, and bought the Complete NIV Audio Bible on MP3 CD (ISBN-10: 1444786407) here on Amazon, and they DID divide each chapter into a separate track. Also, each chapter starts with the name of the book, then the chapter number, so if you want to randomize chapters, you'll know what book each one is from. Thank you, Mr. Suchet, for sharing your love of the Word! I love, love, love this recording.

I was looking for a Bible that I could take with me when I travel but it also had to have the words of Jesus in red.I couldn't have asked for a more perfect Bible.

I purchased this NIV Bible through a recommendation that this version was easier to understand. I was brought up Catholic, but I am in no way a devout follower. Lately I have wanted to read the Bible in its entirety to better understand Christianity and it’s basis so that I may strengthen my faith. I can honestly say that this is the most beautiful Bible I have ever held. The drawings are lovely and inspiring, and the translation is stunningly fluid. I appreciate the space to write, and the thinness of the pages doesn’t bother me. Although it’s not “Catholic approved”, I have no problem reading this Bible if it makes me want to learn and grow. I just started and already I don’t want to put it down. It reads like a favorite story. Thank you.

Such a beautiful Bible. There are several full page illustrations, as well as in the margins. Some of the illustrations have very small pieces to them. I would think colored pencils would be best for coloring in this Bible.

Stunning bible! I waited months for it to be fulfilled and I'd wait longer if I had to. I love the feel of the textured cover, the colors are perfectly muted and Iam so excited to explore every book's beautiful illustrations. Note the tabs were purchased separately off Etsy but match perfectly.

Received my copy this afternoon (Woo, 2-day Prime shipping!) and I already love it! The illustrations are so beautiful and really do bring the words to life. I was originally searching for a Bible that had wide margins for note-taking only, but I stumbled upon these and fell in love! I like that the pages are bright white and ever so slightly thicker than traditional "onion skin" Bible pages. I have used my Prismacolor pencils to color a page and they work beautifully! They show up nice and bright and don't show through on the other side. Also, the book itself is very attractive without the dust jacket! It features a verse from Psalms on the front and title is only printed on the side, which I prefer; I didn't like that some of the other available creative Bibles had "My Coloring Bible" emblazoned across the front. Makes you feel kinda silly. :PAll-in-all, this is a great purchase! The price is unbelievable and the product is beautiful. However, be warned that the print in this Bible is VERY SMALL and some of the illustrations have incredibly small lettering that may be difficult to color.

The BEST read audio Bible, in my opinion. David Suchet uses small variations in tone and volume to capture the feeling of the text. He reads beautifully. For American speakers, his British accent might not appeal. I am also an American speaker, but find it wonderful. There is no music, no drama, just beautiful and meaningful reading.David Suchet became a believer in Jesus at age 40, and has said this project is his legacy to the glory of God. Well done, David. Well done! Even Hercule Poirot could not find fault with this presentation.

I thought I'd try this shortcut for Pollan's book.I think the $5 would have been better spent buying the real book.This synopsis looks like a rush job, typo's, grammar errors, and generally poor writing.Take a skeptical look at the positive reviews. Many have nearly identical wording and again, poorly written.I suspect they were auto-generated. or submitted by the same people under multiple names.Pollan's book is quoted at times,but the Summary does not clearly indicate (no quotation signs) which is material directly from the book,and which is being paraphrased by the Summary.

This was my first (and last) "One Hour Summary" purchase. A 5th grade student could have written a more informative synopsis - without the annoying grammatical errors and the unclarity of whether it is quoting from the actual writer, or rather this summary author's first-person interjection. I liked the idea of a summary of book as I often get these types of mind-spirituality-medicine books and never read the whole thing, but I assumed it would be summarized by the publisher of the real book - or at least someone with graduate level education about the subject matter.For example, in Chapter 3 Pollan (the real author) describes how in the 1940s and '50s, therapists and doctors were looking into how pyschedelics helped with alcoholism and addictions: The summary says, "Bill Wilson was the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, and in the mid-1950s, he was interested in LSD. He wasn't so perplexed by the idea because a similar experience had helped him overcome his own addiction in 1934. He would later take part in sever (sic) LSD sessions".Though I haven't read the actual author's description of this, I have heard him talk about this in interviews, and he doesn't use words like "he wasn't so perplexed by the idea..." The whole summary is written like this, in a manner that sounds unsophisticated, even uninformed. And, yes, it is full of grammatical errors like "sever" instead of "several" that makes me wonder if an editor or simple computer spell check even looked it over. I'm surprised any one who read it can objectively give it more than 1 or 2 stars.

This author spells it out, how to understand the changes necessary for health and fitness and then how to make them. Ask me, I've been on every diet known to man and at best the results are temporary. I am starting to get it and Wendy Higdon is shining the light on the answers for me. I can't say this worked yet because I'm just starting, but I can say that I feel good about this realistic approach.

Without a doubt, this is the best book on the subject I've ever read. It isn't as easy to read as a mass-market mystery or whatever, there were times I had to look up words to understand fully, but overall the clearness of his writing and his insistence on grounded truth make the world of psychedelics much clearer than most.

I leaned so many effective things from this book. I was actually amazed by seeing how many important suggestions gathered in such a short book. Author did an excellent job. I'll surely recommend this book to my friends and family. Happy reading!!good plans to become a chef , this book is recommended .

I have often had difficulty influencing people to try out new ideas and think outside the box without sounding dictatorial. This book has taught me what I have been doing wrong, and serves as a good punch in the chin toward getting me to present my ideas the right way.

Es decir, su nivel de co-consciencia de sus partes es totalmente nula.Otra diferencia es que centra mucho su historia en sus viajes a través de instituciones mentales y ocupa muy poco tiempo en la explicación del trauma inicial, dejándolo abstracto.Esta mujer (sistema) aún vive y tiene su página de internet.También comenta sobre su experiencia con el documental y el show de Oprah y explica ampliamente la problemática de mantener la custodia de su hija a causa del TID.

I must admit it did take a while to really get into the different personalities but once it got there it was very interesting. I can't imagine having a child in the midst of trying to figure out what is wrong.

well written. the first part of the book seemed much too long and repetitious, but it seemed to all come together at the end and I realized the why the extra details were needed.I have followed Kim Noble on the internet for years, on Oprah and was anxious to read her book. Kim is an amazingly strong and courageous woman. I wish I could meet Kim Noble.

Very good read on what it's like to be in the shoes of someone who has DID. It definitely helps you understand this topic more. The background is disturbing, as are all cases of DID but she gives you strength through her strength once you see how amazing the human mind can cope with abuse at infancy

I absolutely could not put this book down once I started reading it! I read the entire book in 3 days! And even after finishing the book I would go back and look over certain parts again. I thought just reading articles about this book gave me enough information but that is not true. The book is filled with so many details and important statements that make a person really think and reflect. So many times I wished that I could have protected and cared for Kim Noble the body so she and her alters would not have had to go through so much pain and confusion and heartache. I liked how most of the chapters had thoughts from the other alters (besides Patrica the dominant) so that the reader could learn more about them and their background. Before reading this book I truly thought it would be best if Kim's body could be intergrated into one. But I do understand more about DID after reading this book and how each personality has its own life essentially. I certainly would not want Patricia to ever dissappear! I can relate in that when something tragic happens to a person your mind can't bear it so it sort of hides it so you don't feel the pain as much. However; it is amazing that these different personalities can develop and each not even know about the other and have special talents such as speaking different languages. When Patricia realizes that she is an alter and that shares a body with all these different people and she wants to just scrub her body and put sand paper on her tongue was such a real, heart wrenching statement that I think anyone would think. I kept trying to put myself in her shoes and think how I would feel or how I would react. She is such a strong person! I got the feeling that we have barely touched the skim of what really happened to Kim to cause her to split into all this alters. But I completely understand that this is a healing process and a learning process and the body wants to protect Patricia and all the alters. I have my own opinions about who I think may have hurt Kim when she was a baby but I think what happened may be worse than any of us could have guessed. I hope that Patricia continues to write more books as her life progresses. I would also enjoy hearing the other alters' stories too. I really like Patricia and hope that she continues to be the main alter. That is how personal this book becomes as you read it. And I truly think that having Aimee was the saving grace for the body. They had someone special to love, take care of, and make sure that they took good care of themself for her. A very endearing story that is a true story. Now I want to hear more! I highly recommend this book to everyone! Excellent story. I would go on and on as I have so many questions and comments to make about what happened but I don't want to give too much away to future readers :)

So full disclosure that I've known Raef for a number of years as a colleague and friend. That fact makes it harder for me to be unbiased about this book compared to a work written by an author that I've never met. That said, I feel that this book is an excellent resource. What sets Raef's coverage apart from others in my opinion is two things: 1) the clarity/transparency of the writing and 2) the case studies that he uses to illustrate the points he makes.First, Raef does an excellent job of making difficult concepts easy to understand through *how* he writes. He's able to write in a manner that is both conversational and approachable, but that doesn't "talk down" to the reader. Moreover, he is careful to ground the topics he covers in "real world" examples that help to explain why the reader should care.This book covers quite a bit of ground: from fundamental security concepts to more advanced and technical topics. For a non-practitioner with an interest in security, this is the perfect introduction. It gives them the fundamentals supported by real-world evidence of why they matter. For the beginning practitioner, this provides a fantastic starting point as it serves as a sort of "gateway" to the security community. A new or more junior practitioner can directly "springboard" from this work into areas where they might need to do more detailed research for their particular job. This book lays out in detail the fundamental concepts that they need to understand to approach that material.All in all a great resource.

The book was informative if you know nothing about cyber security. It is very basic. Good for someone that just needs to know the very entry level info, this book isn’t for someone interested in getting into this field.

Not a bad book. It just didn't cover the issues we were looking for. Looks like it would be ok for someone who doesen't have many issues with Cyber security. For those who have a minor amount of saavy regarding the issue you might want to look elswhere. Again, it does say Cybersecurity for Beginners. It was well written with limited emphasis on crucial security issues for chronic attack targets.

A well thought out, intelligently written book on digital security issues and how to combat them, both before and after an attack. Great use of index of terms with their definitions at the end of the book.

Mr. Meeuwisse does an excellent work at doing an introduction about the general concepts of cybersecurity. In my opinion, the book is written for a "business-like" kind of reader and not so much for a technical person.Some parts, have to admit, i skimmed. But in general it is an outstanding book for anyone who doesn't know where to start!

As a n00b in thr cybersecurity space, I found this book to be incredibly insightful. The "Cyber-to-English" dictionary is quite helpful, too!

I learned so much information and events about cyber security that I once never knew! Very helpful for getting into the field. Covers the basics and informative.

I have read several comments concerning the absence of problem solutions in reference to this book. It maybe because there are so many options to choose from to solve various problems. I suspect that the cost of extending the book size with answers in the back is not justifiable to keep the price down. A CD would have been nice but they didn't feel this way.I have a B.S. ME degree and have practice my engineering craft for quite some time. I am preparing for Grad-school and further to a Doctorate. An idea I am working with is an App, FX Math solver and FX Calculus solver for iPad. This solver is wonderful. There are others that I use as an adjunc but the FX solvers can shoe either the answer or the step by step solution if you formulate the problem correctly. There are some other good ones so there should not beIn conclusion, I recommend using a math solver for problems in the book that will calculate and plot. There are a number of them out there.

This was by far one of the best engineering books I've ever had. I ended up using this book for much of the semester and thought it was well laid out. I only have positive regards for this book as it helped me get an A in my Thermodynamics class. The tables in the back of the book are quite useful and would be great for any mechanical engineer to take note of, if not keep a copy of the table handy for some future classes. The quality of the authors writing compares to that of my favorite engineering book author Hibbeler.

Industry standard, except I hope schools stop using textbooks that use English units. The rest of the world doesn't use them. Even the ENGLISH don't use them, so why does America still force that nonsense down the throats of its own graduates, engineers and scientists? Let's move on people.

We had to purchase this book for a Thermodynamics 1 course I took. We only used the first 6 chapters in class, but I grew curious and started to read the other chapters.I will start by giving you the pros and cons of this book:PROS:* Clear layout* Tables in the rear of the book are organized and have a clean layout & use different colors to differentiate units (SI first then English units)* Mini examples during the reading to help you understand concepts* Section problems to use newly acquired skills* At the end of each chapter, there is a section that gives you the most important equations in that chapter* Front of the textbook has conversions by subtype (Force, Pressure, Energy, etc...) and in both units* The book offers problems in both SI and English Units* Aesthetically pleasing* It offers Thermodynamics as a science for different types of engineers (Biomed, Environ, etc...) thus aiding them see what it could be useful for & giving us traditional engineering majors a look at how to apply Thermodynamics outside of our realm of expertiseCONS:* The chapters can get long. Like 40-50+ pages long in some cases* Computer methods sometimes occur in the book between concepts. I think it should be reserved at the end of the chapter; not everyone uses those methods* No solutions at the end of the book or in the index* No companion solutions manual* I found that while the textbook reads well, it can sometimes gloss over important concepts so I used the Thermodynamics for Dummies book as a reference* Physically large and heavy (more akin to a tome than a standard textbook)* The person who mentioned it isn't build durably is correct: Mine is starting to show moderate damage in the back cover near the spine.A traditional Thermodynamics class stops short of Exergy (Chapter 7).Chapter 1 is basically a review in Physics/Chemistry: conversions, units, etc...Chapter 2 offers insight into thermometers (types and uses) as well as barometers and their governing equationsChapter 3 begins the 1st Law of ThermodynamicsChapter 4 Begins to talk about non-steady state as well as nozzles, turbines, etc...Chapter 5 starts entropyChapter 6 Irreversibilities generated internally in a system (i.e. more entropy)Chapter 7 (Not used in my class, but read it anyways) Exergy (it goes into using it for economic purposes)Overall, I would say this book is nice. It gives plenty of reason to use it and I will use it long into my career as a reference book. However, it is pretty obvious that it could benefit from a solutions manual or some answers in a special index. In addition, a companion manual would aid the reader and finally, the Dummies book also shows you how it could have been better streamlined.I understand Thermodynamics is a complicated course, but this book's verbosity can really bog down someone trying to read it and short of drilling through problems, there isn't a way to understand the concepts in-depth and as I said, sadly it has no solutions manual.Thank you for reading and good luck! :)

Paid $220 for this book and it came in the worst "box" I've ever seen. Just a folded piece of cardboard taped on some edges. Should have taken a picture of it. You could see the side of the pages of the book without even opening it. No shock dampening material at all. 4/5 because it was surprisingly unharmed.

Firstly, I'll agree with other reviewers that the book has a very clear style and is very helpful learning how to do thermo calculations.Most chapters have a few section on concepts and the rest of the chapter is examples. The examples are very clear and after reading through them I was able to do our assigned problems without any problems.My major issue is with the book's lack of conceptual explanation. It explains concepts in a formulaic fashion. I.e. it gives a formula and explains how to use it and supplies just enough concepts to be able to use the formulas. Take for example chapter 3 where it introduces the first major/complicated concept of the relations between specific volume, T and pressure. All it does is give the graph and than analyzes the graph. Sure it explains very well the relations and how to use them, but there is almost no explanation given as to why they are the way they are.I'll say again, if you want to be able to do the thermo analyzation and calculation this is a really great book. But, if you want understand why things are the way they are, you'll have to find another more theoretical book.

This is a very good text book, it is well written and keeps it short and sweet. It gets to the point. One great feature is that it boxes in derivations that are not nessacary to understand, this way you don't get bogged down in a lot of text. There are tons of examples in the book and no mistakes that I could find. You really can read and understand everything from the text, you don't really need a teacher, which is saying alot, because most books are impossible to read and figure out what's going on. I agree the bio part is worthless, but Moran is obviously into that stuff because he always mentioned it in class. It's really not a bad thing...just skip it, who cares if it's in there. Overall if you want a good thermo book, whether it's self taught or in a class, it's a good choice.

This is a great book especially for folks who want to walk out in nature without strenuous climbs and where there is a wide path usually to avoid things like ticks on brush. Also, very interesting history of the rail trails and area. A good read. Recommended.

For anyone interested in either discovering new trails to ride your bike on in new jersey or someone with an interest in railroading in the garden state the book is highly recommended. I live in northern n.j. (west paterson) and have taken the book with me on rides through some of the longer northern n.j. trails and have found the directions to the trail the sites to see and the remaining RR structures along the trail described very accurately. (Although the author seems to have missed mentioning the RR mile markers remaining on the essex branch by my house! ) Anyway i am 33 y.o. and i find that these long trails are sometimes a nice break from the more typical mtn. biking type of riding i also like to do in some of new jersey's other state parks. Dont get me wrong though ,these trails can certainly provide a great workout too. I recommend the southern section of the columbia trail through ken lockwood gorge as the nicest area in northern n.j.

This is the best book you can buy if you are interested in the great rail trails of NJ. Not only does it provide details about the trails, but the background and history is amazing. Reading the history of a trail before biking/hiking it makes the day more interesting. Great book!

This book is quite unique & even better than the author's previous book on the rail-trails of New England. Three things distinguish this book from others:(1) Insight into the history of the railroads.(2) Useful & reliable descriptions of each trail.(3) Needs of both cyclists & hikers are addressed.A must-have for any rail-trail rider or hiker who wondered about the railroads that once ruled the trail.
