Bill Huebsch did the ordinary person a great favor by translating the Vatican II documents to language the ordinary person can understand. This translation definitely helped the people understand the Council and thus made it possible for them to live by its teachings.

We will be using this text for our study group that has varying competencies in sacred scripture and church teachings. Thus, this text is an excellent 'digest' of the Vatican II documents for our purposes.

I have heard this author speak in person and he is just as amazing in print!! Some may agree with the previous reviewer that reading the actual documents themselves or Flannery's version is more helpful, and that's fine. What you simply cannot do without is the first volume of Huebsch's 3 volume set. In it he paints a vivid, enjoyable, informative picture of the situation preceding and surrounding the council. As someone born at the tail-end of the 1970's I knew nothing about the council before reading Huebsch's books. His first book was so interesting and wonderful that it only made me want to learn more! Imagine that! A book making a Catholic want to read more Church documents! Wonderful! Loved them! Go Bill!

The idea of putting the documents of Vatican II in the hands of Catholics is laudable. It is deplorable that so few Catholics have read these documents. Many have been given the idea that these documents are only for the clergy or for theology dweebs. So I was excited when I saw the cover of this book -- but I wondered what "in plain English" meant. I had always thought that the "Flannery translation" was plain enough. It is clear and non-ugly. What Huebsch has given us is, by his own admission, not a translation but a paraphrase. The question arises: Why in Heaven's Name do we need a paraphrase, given that we already have a translation which is eminently readable? I haven't been able to answer that question. To me, the Hueblehized text is stilted and difficult to read. It would be so, I think, even without the ditzy fashion in which he aligns the text on the page. If it were within my means, I would find every individual who owns this book, take it out of his or her hands, replace the book with Flannery's translation, and say to the beneficiary: "There. Now you have a reliable and readable record of the Constitutions of Vatican II. I can think of no more effective way of devaluing the Council than to have this book in the hands of English-speaking Catholics.

I've read the Vatican II in plain english and Whole Community Catechesis by Bill Hubsch. the other reviewer should give it a rest. Bill is a breath of fresh air and a learned man. Let the man talk and let his views be heard as part of the Catholic Church. We're big enough, we're old enough, and doggone it, people like him.

I was an avid Stern listener for many years, from the time John started on the show until he left for Leno. I continued to listen until about five years ago as I felt the show deteriorated; many bits and gags were eliminated and were replaced by more celebrity interviews and a lot of Howard's uninformed political views, causing me to quickly change stations. John is obviously bitter and jealous of Stern and many of the long time staffers. There were some interesting tidbits in the book, but overall a cheap money grab at the expense of others.John characterizes himself as thick skinned and carefree and you would tend to believe that if you recall the celebrity interviews he did for Stern and the embarrassing questions that he asked that most would shy away from. However, as I read the book and listened to his podcast, which I now consider unlistenable garbage, I unfortunately have come to the conclusion that John is nothing more than an ignorant hustler. Real friends do not write tell all books, only egotistical, selfish jerks do that. John is a first rate backstabber, not much of a friend.John has the writing style of an eight grader and not much depth. The book is disorganized and pretty much just a backstabbing of those he called friends to make a cheap buck and I am guilty of buying the book, wish I could take it back. If you are really bored and have no comic books around, or dishes to wash, this could be a book for you

John didn’t even know when he posted it that the expression, routinely used by a Tonight Show coworker, refers to a cult leader using his influence to poison his loyal followers to death.John was once one of those loyal Stern Show followers himself as a young man, and his high-profile stunts as an eventual low-paid contributor – ambushing press conferences and red carpets to ruffle the feathers of largely uptight celebrities by asking hilariously offensive questions – helped recruit countless more. As a Howard Stern fan, I've followed John Melendez since he was an intern on the show. While many staff members couldn't get beyond the shadow of the Stern Show, John managed to succeed in TV, movies, music, and now literature. This is his story, and what a story it is. Tales from the Stern Show and the Tonight Show that you would never read anywhere else.

Not a very good book appears to be a money grab by a disloyal former employee. The book is poorly edited. To bad I wasted my money on the kindle version, the hard copy would make great kindling for my fireplace.

I'm a stern fan and hoped to read something new. John spends the entire book crapping on everyone that has ever helped him. I forgot about how unlikable he actually is. Half the book he explains how talented, important and funny he is but I cant remember laughing during the entire book. But honestly I didn't read the entire book because the non stern parts are boring and unreadable. Anyone with half a brain can see what a hypocrite he is. I'm sorry and am ashamed I gave him my money. Its makes the Jackie book look like Shakespeare

The book is really unorganized. The stories skip all over the place. You think you are going to get some juicy details, but almost everything is what any Stern Show fan will already know. I have been listening to The Howard Stern Show since 1993, but only became a die-hard fan when it went to Sirius. I always thought the Artie years when John was on the show were some of the best, but his stories in the book are very disappointing. He has to keep repeating that he "loves" Howard even though he disparages him every chance he gets. He talks about Leno like he is a god, which we know is complete nonsense. It would have been better if he went in chronological order and actually had some proof to back up the amount of trash he talks.

Brilliant writing on some of the best songs ever written. Always unique and insightful tales of the origins of a song. Not to be missed if you like songs and music. A small book, perfect for pairing with a Spotify or Pandora Binge during those long dark wet winter months. Great writing, as good as the songs themselves. Like, who knew that ... oh, but you have to read it for yourself. No spoiler alerts from me. LOL. ; ))

This is a great book. I heard about it in the Life of a Song podcast and decided to buy it. If you enjoy music it is a must have. The stories about each song are interesting and well written and the book covers a variety of musical genres. So glad I bought it.

For a book helping kids to code in Roblox, it's pretty bland.My kid opened it up, thumbed through it, and then pretty much tossed it aside. Never even wanted to see if the content was worth it.Not sure what the intended age group is for this book, but if it's trying to make an 8yo want to code in Roblox, it should be in color and have more pictures, imo.Maybe I'll give it a go and see if I can redeem my purchase.

My StoryI wish I didn't have to write this review, but alas, it was done by someone else. Or at least initially. Yes, that's right, I had no control over my account when this review was made. Yesterday, I tried to log in to my Amazon account, and was stopped. The password had been changed, the email had been changed. I immediately called Amazon, and it took them almost an hour to figure out which account was even mine, because someone had stripped all my personal information from the account (this hacker knew what they were doing I guess). After that, it took another full 24 hours of a "security review" before Amazon would reset my email address and password so that I could have my account back.When I finally got back in, what did I find? A whole bunch of reviews on products and books. Quite frankly, the reviews contained a lot of troubling spelling and grammatical errors (that sentence was unapologetically aimed at the hacker, if they ever come back to look. You're kind of an idiot). All that I can surmise is that the person who wrote this book decided to pay for reviews, and the service they paid uses very underhanded methods to fulfill that. Read at your own risk, it must be terrible.The real Dan C.

This book is self published and apparently had no editor. Although it is full of examples, it completely lacks any explanation. There are run on sentences, poorly worded sentences, no punctuation, and a plethora of other stylistic and technical errors. Wait for the official Microsoft study guide to drop in March.

Half the content is copy pasted from technet (read, plagiarized) The other half is poorly edited and difficult to read, I agree with the first person about waiting for official material to come out as this isn't worth the paper.

I am half way into the book and I say it's fantastic!. The author employs a very practical approach and does a great job balancing practice and theory in this book, which to me is the biggest selling point. The author begins by presenting a high level topology/scenario which he then deconstructs in a clear and precise manner backed by a plethora of hands-on labs and exercises. To me this is very important because it makes the learning stick.

Great Azure book for Azure Infrastructure and Deployment. The uniqueness of this book is all the Labs are fully Typologies based with diagrams.

I usually don’t write reviews. This book is better than 4000 USD my company spent on Azure Administrator (AZ100 & AZ101) bootcamp. At the start of the book Author shows the high level topology. In Each chapter a part of high level topology is created step by step. Topology is shown at the start of the chapter and then each Azure Service which part of the topology is discussed and then through lab exercises chapter topology is implemented. This book is like a real world Azure Project. It’s a great resource for Azure Admins.

If you are looking to pass the exam, this provides great walk-thrus on how to perform each task, making the lab activities easy to complete. The book provides some limited explanation of the architecture and theory of each Azure solution. If you want to understand each component to expert levels, you will need to read other material. To prep for passing the exam however, this book does the trick.
