A lovely retelling of the Arthurian legend. I enjoyed the book from start to finish. Definitely a fan of the series and can't wait for the third book.Morgan was a character that I could identify with personally. The world development and magic use was refreshingly unique. Loved the addition of the Fae into the storyline as contrasted with the strict catholic feeling of Arthur's world. Well done and worth the read.

First, it was killing me the whole time having the main character not know her big secret after I figured part of it out. She literally finds out in the last 10 page or so...Anyways, the story was new and unique. The characters were well developed. I liked how we didn't just learn about the main character but the supporting characters as well, without taking away from the main storyline. The main character is really likable after the first few chapters and her "woe is me" attitude starts to change. She is self reliant due to her upbringing so when bad things happen in the story she faces it head on.The only thing I didn't like about the story was KORT. I thought it would have been a better fantasy aspect for the story if it had a more original name- something the author made up, since readers already have an idea of what those real knights were in their head.I recommend if you like fey stories, magic stories, young adult fantasy (nothing risqué in story) or fantasy schools.

This book is easy to read and to follow. It has all the elements of suspense and surprise. It is hard to put down once you have started it. She ends the book in such a way that you can hardly wait for the next one. The story is ongoing in such a way that you can hardly wait to see what happens next.

Literally one of the most amazing books I have read this year. The world-building, the characters, the plot, the originality - all of them too wonderful to describe in mere words. Trust me on this and buy this amazing book now. I still can't believe I got it in Amazon's free books :)

I think that this book was really good I liked the character Morgan Pendragon. I like the her strength and her courage to be able to deal with all the people that dont like her. I like the fact that it is a book about that has to deal with the Knights of the Round table.I also like that the story was different from the ones that I have recently read. I also Liked the character Puck I thought that he was really funny. I also felt bad for Bri and Owen and what Happened to Owen.I have to say that I spent most of the book wondering why everyone was mean to Morgan Pendragon and why her own parents were so cold to her. I did not expect the answer that came at the end of the book.I can not wait til the next one comes out!!

This was a great story. I enjoyed reading it very much. I Loved the characters. This is about like a Harry Potter novel.

OMG! WOW! What a book. I completely devoured this book. I could not tear my eyes from the pages. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. The main character Morgan is awesome. She is funny, sarcastic and smart. It’s was really easy to relate to her. She couldn’t stay out of trouble to save her life. She had now problem following the rule well maybe a little, Trouble always seen to find her no matter how hard she tries not to get into any. All the other characters were great. I was so happy when Morgan punches that girl in the face. I usually don’t like my heroines to be the damsel in distress type but it was ok with Morgan because she didn’t know what was going on. But she didn’t have a problem standing on her own two feet when the time came. This book was a big mystery. I was right there with Morgan not knowing what the hell was going on. The world that Alessa was freaking awesome, Can you imagine going to a school that’s under a lake. When you look up into the sky from the school you don’t see clouds or starts you see fish swimming, how cool is that. OMG what an ending I did not see that coming. I so can’t wait to read the next book. if you haven’t read this book yet you need to. Go get it NOW you will not be disappointed

Blood of the Fey sucked me in and kept me up way too late several nights in a row. My wife was amazed as I seldom have time to read non-work related books. The story is fresh with some historical homage that made it very interesting and captivating. I was really getting to like Morgan and then the plot flipped on its head in the last chapter...damn that devious mind!

BOMB was mentioned in a review of another book and I decided to order a hardback edition. When it arrived and I opened the package my first thought after looking at the cover, was, this is either going to be a very good, or a very bad book. I was delighted to discover it was a very good book.Having been involved with the nuclear weapons program with a high security clearance, assigned to the Defense Atomic Support Agency, Field Command at Sandia Base, Albuquerque, NM, and a person who has researched the Manhattan Project, later using my knowledge to write my first novel based upon the Soviet version of the Manhattan Project (the Soviet program has several names), I was delighted by the author’s attention to detail, ability to explain the program in an understandable and interesting manner, and his historical and technical accuracy.The Manhattan Project was in the 1940s the greatest engineering, scientific and manufacturing effort in the history of mankind. A program that made America the first real superpower, and something all Americans should be proud of.I will add a couple of facts the author may not have known. The Little Boy dropped on Hiroshima had a yield of 12-13 kilotons, not 20KT. The reason was pre-detonation, the fission reaction began as the U-235 “projectile” entered the U-235 “target rings,” reducing the yield.The Soviets detonated a 50 megaton weapon (the yield may have been greater) know as “Tsar Bomba” and the bomb detonated was scaled down from the designed yield of 100MT.The Soviet ability to penetrate the Manhattan Project illustrates how difficult it is to keep secrets—something true then and still true today.Written for school children, BOMB is a book anyone interested in American history, and the history of the Manhattan Project will enjoy.BOMB is an easy, insightful read, and I highly recommend it.

Our 8 year-old loves to read about many topics including history, science and technology; physics,and the elements and chemistry. (Like a lot of kids his age, he also likes the Wimpy Kid Series.) Bomb: The Race to Build - and steal - the World's Most Dangerous Weapon supplies some necessary history for teen readers primarily, yet any adult who has had the misfortune of spending periods of time under desks in grade school during air raid drills on Tuesday mornings will benefit from this read. The author does his research, moves the book at an appropriate speed, and weaves the names and events so that any lapses in reader interest are avoided. The book is written for young readers - nothing wrong with that - considering how ignorant present young people are about culture changing events. Pick up a copy: you can finish it in a couple of days and feel like you learned something about the dawn of the nuclear age.

I am in eighth grade and I think this book describes both the race to develop and use the atomic bomb perfectly. The main plot is about the discovery of fission and the making of the first atomic bomb and the ones that followed. It is also about the race between America, the Soviet Union, and Germany to finish constructing the atomic bomb as soon as possible in order to use it if there is a possible or definite threat from the other country or countries. The book is well written and is also full of suspense. The main characters in the novel are Robert Oppenheimer (a physicist who was in charge of the making of the first atomic bomb), Leslie Groves (an army general who was in charge of the entire Manhattan Project), Klaus Fuchs (a physicist who ended up spying for the Soviet Union), and Harry Gold (a chemist from Philadelphia who betrayed his country by giving top-secret information to the Soviets.) The main locations the novel takes place in are America, Japan, and Northern, Central, and Eastern Europe. The subplots talk about the scientists and physicists who were involved in the making of the atomic bomb and the ones who were also spies or were not spies but were accused of being a spy. The subplots also talk about the different locations where each bomb was tested. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in American history or physics (science.)

When a friend recommended this Young Adult book, I was a bit skeptical because it was a YA. However, I loved it so much I've recommended it to dozens of friends and family members. It is an excellent overview of the Manhattan Project and really gives great insight into the people involved, the scientific breakthroughs, the moral questions, and the spying that surrounded the whole process. In fact, the author does a great job hooking the reader by beginning with the spy activity at Los Alamos. I've read hundreds of WWII books, so I was surprised how well this covers the key points without getting bogged down in the science, politics, biographies, etc. Highly recommended for ANY AGE.

Great book and provides very useful information that we did not know before. It was on a recommended book list for my son, who is starting the 7th grade. As his father, I got the book for him. He enjoyed a lot and told me I should read it as well. I read it and enjoyed it as well, thus it is a very good book for both kids and adults!

I’ve been following Sean Shapiro since he was writing for the Dallas Stars on NHL.com for the 2016-17 season. I read pretty much every article he published. I was an active reader on his Wrong Side of the Red Line(which is now a podcast) website until he moved over his full time gig the Athletic, which I fully reccomend purchasing a 1 year subscription. Sean’s writing is so in-depth and full of enlightenment, the work and effort put into any type of writing that he produces is truly appreciated from this fan.This book here has it all. From the beginning of the Dallas Stars franchise to its present. It covers every moving piece that made the Dallas Stars to where they are now. It has pages explaining the old famous faces like Norm Green, Jim Lites, Mike Modano, Sergei Zubov, Ken Hitchcock, Jere Lehtinen... players and personnel that I loved growing up and watching capturing that ultimate championship—the Stanley Cup. It has pages that covers the new faces of the franchise like Jamie Benn and his Art Ross Trophy capture. Acquiring Tyler Seguin in Jim Nill’s blockbuster trade and he is now cemented for 8 more years with the Dallas Stars and claims Dallas is home. Jordie Benn also has a couple pages, which I think is great. The dynamic duo of Ralph and Razor has a few pages for them(Stars fans are blessed to have amazing commentary, been really enjoying Josh Bogorad as play-by-play). It has so many pieces from the Dallas Stars family and I’m so proud to own this book. Sean makes being a hockey fan much more enjoyable.Can’t wait to get this bad boy signed when I travel to Dallas for a game. Thanks for reading!

Sean Shapiro is not only the best professional sports writer who covers the Dallas Stars, he's arguably one of the best NHL writers period. In this book, Sean does an excellent job of touching upon all of the franchise moments Stars' fans know about, such as the trade for Joe Nieuwendyk and the infamous "skate in the crease" goal, as well as the not so well known, such as the (almost as infamous) "Mooterus" jerseys. Even as a lifelong Stars fan, I learned new things reading this book (who knew Mike Modano had his own beer?) and in all likelihood, you will too.

Sean does a great job of telling the history of the North Stars/Stars in this book. If you’re a Stars fan or if there’s anything you’ve ever wanted to know about the Stars this is the book to read! Highly recommend!

This was a good book and humorous too. A true must for any Stars fan! Most Stars players and personnel are covered, as well as highllghts.

I read this out loud to my husband on a road trip, and we both loved it! My husband is a big Stars fan, and I am learning :)

A really fun book! Love the set up and approach. The tone is perfect! It has so much great information. If you are a Stars fan, this is a book you need to own!

I had done quite a bit of online reading and got some great advice from my breeder, but thought I would buy this book for a fun read about a new favorite subject of mine - Nigerian Dwarf Goats. I found that I had to take all the advice with a grain of salt and not actually trust it, because I found several downright untrue statements throughout the book. I also couldn't believe the typos and the obvious mistakes such as getting your goat from a hatchery?! and delivered by the postal service, and odd sentences thrown in here and there about birds and chickens, and other very different breeds of goat. I cannot recommend this book for reliable information.

If I could give it zero stars I would. This book is not at all a reliable source for anyone looking at getting Nigerian Dwarf Goats. I agree with the previous poster about the just replacing other animals with the word "goat" into text that was written about something else. In the section about housing the author refers to Nigerian Dwarf goats as Pygmy Goats. They also frequently call a goat shelter a 'coop' at times. Other places in the book, the author has inadvertantly called the goats other names at times, such as chickens, Pygmies, etc. An example of the ridiculous mix up of breeds in this book is on page 38 where the author writes, "The Nigerian Dwarf Goat: as you know this goat is also called the Nigerian Dwarf Goat because of its characteristic 10 second muscle freeze when shocked or surprised. These goats are very special for goat owners because of their characteristic fainting abilities, of course but also for their amazing personalities. To honor these goats, there is a special Nigerian Dwarf Goat Festival that is held in Tennessee each year. The festival has several cultural displays and food stalls and is as large as any typical festival!" What the author is referring to is the Myotonic Goat, NOT a Nigerian Dwarf. Please don't waste your money on this book. It should never have been printed. I wish there had have been reviews on this book before I purchased it in March!

I am really happy with this book. I am an experienced animal owner with cats, dogs, horses, reptiles, and rodents, but I hadn't tried goats yet. I got my two Nigerian dwarf wethers from a friend who was closing her petting zoo, and I just needed some basics on goat care as I won't be breeding or milking. This is a great little book that explains everything quickly and efficiently. It's easy to read and understand. I recommend it as a basic book for first-time goat owners.Per what the one-star commenters said, I did not see the mistakes they saw, and I am a technical editor and transcriptionist by trade. Perhaps those errors were corrected before I bought the book as my copy doesn't have those mistakes in it.

This is a very informative book with simple suggestions! I do recommend it for new Nigerian Dwarf Goats and by the way they are so adorable and loving.

Serious and significant errors in this book!!! HIGHLY advise not spending a cent on this book!! Looks as if they took a book about other animals (including chickens!?!) and just replaced the previous species word with "goat"!! Horrific to think that people will buy this and believe it's true!?!? Horrific!! Do not waste your money!!

Very disappointed. After raising standard goats for 11 years I just moved to the Nigerians this year and we are in love with them. I was looking for a book specific to the breed that would help me understand them better, and their care better. This book was not helpful at all.

This is by far the best banjo instruction book I have found in several years of lookingRoss Nickerson has gone to a lot of trouble to explain all the techniques in a clear consise mannerHis section on the rolls is superb and he takes you along with him through the book by gradually increasing thecomplexity of the exercises and songsI have learned more from this book ( and my playing has improved more) in the past month than the past 18 months ofwading through other books and skype lessons. Even my wife noticed and I am now allowed to practice in the living room! Well done Ross, I hope its a best seller- Richard Climie

The book seems very thorough, but be aware that this version does not come with a CD. It is an online download so if you want to listen to the audio portion on something other than a computer you'll need to have the ability to burn your own audio CDs.

I have two copies of "Story" to ensure it is always nearby.Out of a dozen or so books on writing, I found McKee's "Story" thoroughly enlightening.It can be a challenge to comprehend in places - but worth the extra effort!In terms of characters driving narrative, review chapter 7 and examine writing w/in "the gap".I found it easier to grasp McKee by writing one paragraph summaries of each chapter as I progressed.It may be helpful to think of each chapter as a separate vignette of knowledge.I suggest reading the chapters in this order: 1-3, 8, 4, 7, 5-6, 15, 9, 10-11, 14, 18, 12-13, 16-17(the above order was suggested to me in fact by L.S.)Also, try reading "Save the Cat", contrast/compare w/ "Story" and refer to the "Bible" by Trottier.On a side note, the slip cover is absolutely awful. Throw it away.The hardcover book w/out the slip cover is a tasteful blue-purple w/ STORY and McKee in gold print.(see attached photo)

I don't know why, but I actually feel emotional about this book. I've had it for a long time and read it over and over, turned down the top corners and bottom corners, marked up passages with different colored pens, and I'm not even a screenwriter. I read it for fiction writing and to strengthen my editing skills. It's like a family member I feel great gratitude and appreciation for.His bias against the avant-garde was shocking to me at first and it took time to get past that, but I forgave him. He does include meta and anti-novel type structures, at least.I recommend this book to my fiction students all the time. What a gem.

I truly regret that I hadn't digested this book sooner. I bought the book when I finally managed, after years of hoping and wishing, to attend the STORY seminar in Los Angeles in March, 2018. Having the book along through the 3-day closed seminar with restrictions on the use of electronic devices helped me to fully immerse myself into the content while listening to Robert McKee explain and exemplify the strategies and concepts. I write screenplays and novels and find that though STORY indicates a concentration on "Structure, Style, and the Principles of Screenwriting," the concepts and strategies have already proved useful for writing any genre. And not only has STORY and Mr. McKee's seminar given me a new outlook on my writing, I also have found the materials useful in teaching literary analysis to my high school students and will utilize the material for my Creative Writing class next school year. How any (real) writer could discount this book as not offering "much help" or would suggest that writers should "steer clear of it" makes absolutely no sense . . .

For me _Story_ by Robert McKee is an incredibly useful book in terms of analyzing stories after the fact. If you read a popular, well-crafted book or view a movie or TV show with those qualities and want to understand how it works, what makes it tick, you would be hard pressed to find a better book, and you should just order this book now -- you're in for a treat.If you're an aspiring writer, _Story_ may be extremely helpful for you (as evidenced by the many glowing reviews here), but it might also be problematic in ways you don't expect. It's from this perspective that I'm writing this review. Writing fiction is an incredibly personal experience, so to be clear I'm not saying that people who love this book as a writing how-to are wrong. I think if you have a certain mindset or approach to writing, this book will be extremely helpful to you. But if you don't, you may want to approach _Story_ with some caution (which I'll explain in a minute).Some fiction writers employ a very methodical, intellectual approach, putting stories together like watchmakers carefully constructing a complex timepiece, creating detailed outlines first and using them as blueprints to build their stories. This is a completely valid way to work -- in fact, I'm envious of such writers and wish it worked for me. If you already know that you are this sort of writer, you should just order _Story_ right now, because you almost certainly are gonna love it and find it incredibly useful.Some writers employ a more organic, intuitive approach, where creating a story is an unstructured process of discovery (the so-called "pantsers", because they work from "the seat of their pants"). In my view this is also a perfectly valid way to work, not inherently better or worse than being a dedicated outliner. If you know that you're this sort of writer, you may find _Story_ intellectually compelling (because it surely is), but it might also mess with your head (see below).I personally am neither a hardcore outliner nor a committed pantser. I am finding that I produce my best, most satisfying work when I bounce back and forth between the two approaches. I can't go full organic because I get lost in the work and find that I constantly have 16 ideas that I can't choose between, and each one of those leads to 16 other ideas, and so on. On the other hand, for me employing a rigorous outlining approach is too intellect-driven. I feel I lose the creative spark and fascination that made me want to write the story in the fist place. Instead, deliberately or not, I find myself "solving" my story structure like a sudoku puzzle, overtaken with concern about hitting the right points in the right way at the right time, and things like, losing control of my story that way.Which brings me back to _Story_. As someone else here said, McKee isn't telling you, "These are rules! You must follow them!" He's describing principles of storytelling he's developed over years and years of experience and analysis. The thing is, his approach is extremely methodical and intellect-driven, it has a gravity that's going to pull you in that direction. It's so intellectually appealing it's like your brain can't let go of it. Like I said earlier, if your writing mindset and approach are on the same wavelength as what McKee teaches, this is gonna be awesome for you and you're going to love it. If you're not, this can really mess with your head and your writing for a bit.That said, this is good material even for someone like me, and I am glad I read it. There are useful ideas here, and it's good to be aware of them even if you're not going to go about building stories the way McKee teaches. But if you go about putting McKee's tools into practice and it just doesn't work for you, or you're simply not that kind of writer to begin with, don't panic if it feels like your brain has been taken over by McKee for a while. :-) This too shall pass, and afterwards you will probably feel like you have learned things that will be useful to you at some point down the road.
