Sandra Cerny Minton, PhD, was professor and dance director at the University of Northern Colorado from 1972 to 1998. She is now a dance specialist in the public schools. Her other books include Modern Dance: Body & Mind (1991), Dance Mind & Body (2003), and Preventing Dance Injuries (2005), on which she served as a coeditor. Dr. Minton's research has focused on dance teachers' behaviors, the role of imagery in teaching dance, and the effects of dance on students' self-esteem and creative thinking. This research has been published in several juried journals. In 1999, Dr Minton was selected as the National Dance Association Artist/Scholar, and in 2001 she taught in Finland as a Fulbright Scholar.

I found this book very helpful! This book has photos of stage dos & don'ts, and covers everything from movement exploration, to how lighting and costumes effect the dance. Everything from coming up with the dance, to auditioning other dancers to stage set up, to performance is covered. This is a "hands-on" book, with lots of exercises for the dancer to play with. In the rear of the book is forms and checklists that will help make choreography and booking a lot easier. Well written out, and lots of photos to illistrate the writer's meaning. Since in dance, a picture IS worth a 1,000 words.

This book is different given that it gives you a more practical look at the subject than just theory. Main reason I think is that its written by people in the business. Also very easy read, which makes it so much better as a source of reference to go to any chapter to refresh your knowledge. I wanted something concise and comprehensive and could not have asked for a better book. Now I wish that it was more detailed.

The Art of Distressed M&A, unlike many books that have come before on this topic, is a well written, well organized source of truly practical advice on leading and/or participating in a troubled company sale process. Accessible to the business executive and the distressed advisor alike, the book treats all aspects of the distressed company sale process in great detail, without being overly burdened by jargon. I highly recommend the book to young legal and banking professionals embarking on a career in distressed advisory work, as well as company management teams seeking to understand what lies ahead as their company heads toward the auction block.

"The Art of Distressed M&A" is an excellent book for any investor's shelf. As an equity research professional, I was looking for a book to give me an overview of the bankruptcy process. Not only did the book provide all of the key basics, it also had enough depth to become a fantastic resource that I have on my bookshelf to go to every time I need to know something about bankruptcies.I thought the book had many strengths, but I will mention just a few:1. The organization of the book was excellent. As someone with experience in finance, but with virtually no knowledge about bankruptcies, I was afraid that any book on the topic would be far too detailed for what I was looking for. That turned out not to be the case at all with "The Art of Distressed M&A." The book started with general bankruptcy topics then became more and more complex as the book proceeds. This allowed me to get all the bankruptcy basics that I was looking for (i.e. on DIP financing, Chapter 7s vs. Chapter 11s, etc.) in the first sections of the book.As the writing proceeds, it becomes more and more detailed. I found myself skimming the last few sections, but I think that was the authors' intent. The final sections are more as a reference resource than something to read like a novel. Now I know that whenever I need a specific detail about bankruptcy M&A, I can simply go to the index and find what I'm looking for.2. Statistics. The authors really focused on the important statistics, which were timely, without overloading the flow of the writing with numbers.3. Quotes. At the beginning of each chapter, the authors put an excellent quote from a variety of different disciplines. I found myself highlighting virtually every quote, which really shows that the authors thought deeply about including the best ones to capture each chapter's message.In summary, I highly recommend adding this to your bookshelf if you are a serious investor who wants to further understand the basics and intricacies of bankruptcies. I really thought this was a great purchase and a fantastic book that I will refer to for years to come.

A great book that covers far more than restructuring. Some of the most valuable insights were not apparent at first. As the book dives deeper into company structure and thus restructuring, you begin to see the value in peeling back the layers of a corporation to find out what they do well and where they can improve. I used this book as a way to take a corporation and "reverse engineer" its progression to discover what they do well, and more importantly, what they chose not to do as a matter of strategy. The tools provided here will make any company stronger in avoiding the pitfalls of a restructuring and navigating through the complexities of restructuring if so needed.The Art of Distressed M&A should be on the bookshelf of anyone looking to take a deeper dive into what makes a corporation great, what signs emerge when a corporation is faltering, and how to successfully restructure and emerge as a stronger corporation. The "Art" of this book is in the the straightforward concepts brought forward in a way that make the application of knowledge something that can be used next day.In addition to the book being a valuable tool, one of the authors (Jeff Anapolsky) is a professor at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, a top 10 business school. The book content wise is very good and informational, but there needs some serious editing. It seems like when the company put it in book format, part of the print got screwed up, because I'll be reading and suddenly the paragraph ends mid-sentence and then we're onto another paragraph that doesn't correspond to where we left off. I am only about an eight of the way through the book and this has already happened several times. It's quite annoying.Also, the font they used is horrible (it's Calibri which no one I know likes), I wish they had used something more standard like Times New Roman, and used bigger font, because it is so tiny in the book.

Ancient history. I felt ancient reading it. Its very detailed and practically written. I found it a great and insightful read.

Great at last I'm finding text books off history on Sikh soldier and our greatest teachers and their moral code to follow and learn more about from an 'other' who we as Sikhs are not afraid to learn from.

This book answered many questions about the Sikh Religion, it's origin, it's creator and first Guru, it's a good read and VERY complete.

Understanding that the original manuscript was written over a hundred years ago, I found the book incredibly boring and hard to stay interested in. Which is unfair to a beautiful religion.

We love this book! My three year old has requested it to be read over and over for almost two years now. We have a vast book collection, so the fact that she chooses this one so often really shows how much she loves it. The pictures are great, just like the story. There are only a few sentences per page, so it is perfect for young readers. We love all Tomie books, but this one is our favorite. In fact, I am looking for a small St. Pascual statue to keep in my kitchen so that when my little girl is all grown up I will still have a reminder of all our happy readings of Pascual and the Kitchen Angels.

This story was great for reading to my first grade Sunday School class when we were talking about angels and guardian angels.

I really enjoyed this book. I have read many of Tomie de Paola's books and bought a few of them especially the ones with religious themes. They are simple but with a great story and message. I started this book with even knowing it was based on a real saint St Pascual Baylon and liked it very much.

Our church in Poolesville, MD decided to have a few sessions on the nature of Islam. We were inspired by a talk given to us by Bishop Chane of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, who has traveled in the Middle East and met and spoken with representatives of many faiths and persuasions. He emphasized that Christians, Jews, and Muslims are all descendants of Abraham. We share many more beliefs than we might imagine. Both Jews and Christians and Muslims share the Old Testament. In fact, as Bishop Chane told us, the Koran has more references to the Virgin Mary in the New Testament than the Gospels.So I ordered the Qur'an = Koran to find out for myself. I was charmed by the passages declaring God's mercy, and to see all the references to Moses, Jesus, and many others in the Bible. This version of the Koran, translated into English by Alan Jones, was recommended to me by a distinguished professor of Islamic Studies at a major Ivy League university. Jones is a noted scholar of Arabic studies. His new translation is based upon years of study of the Koran. It has a wonderful introduction, telling much about the prophet Muhammad and the foundation of Islam.Before denouncing Muslims as terrorists we must understand that all three faiths--Christian, Jewish, and Islam have bred individuals who have invoked their religion to oppress and even kill people. They are not supported in any way by any scripture whatsoever. Reading this latest translation has not only given me hope. It has also brought me to the realization that we can all live in peace if we will just try to understand. Read the Koran. Together we survive; divided we fail.

This translation/interpretation joins the ranks of the very best that attempts to capture some of the meaning of the Koran; it contains none of the Arabic text of the Koran. I would read this translation/interpretation in conjunction with M. A. S. Abdel Haleem's, Arberry's, Asad's, Pickthall's, and Cleary's translative/interpretative efforts.
