Great read. So glad for the historical information. We are still telling the story of those who survived and the truth is still making it's way to the surface. This maybe fiction but it is the reality of a people who struggled, died and had the courage to fight.

I am now half way finished with this book.....A MUST READ.......I will post my overall review as soon I have completed the book....A REAL GOOD ONE..

This turned out to be a romance novel of a sort. The couple were happy in the end. The story was suspenseful. I enjoyed this read.

This book was a very quick read and I love how they incorporated Harriet Gunman! Wish it was another book to this.

While the story gives one a glimpse of the horrors of slavery and its unholy treatment of people, along with a rare, almost unrealistic and beautiful ending, I enjoyed the book. This author seems to have a special insight into the emotional and spiritual side of the characters that I found authentic. The characters are well developed. The book is well written. I felt like I was there with the characters involved in their lives as part of the story.

I liked the way the writer kept me on the edge of my seat. The only thing missing was revenge on the Mazda who deserves to suffer just as he made others suffer. His cruelty and dominance over black people was horrible. I wish the half black, half white man had lived. I would love to read a book centered around him. Revenge is Mine faith the Lord.

The MC, Casey, is awesome. She eats her life, marches to her own drummer and relies on herself and her friends to overcome any obstacles. She hit every note exactly right with him as he traversed his grief from the loss of his soul mate and went on a journey that left him with something to live for anyway. Without even meaning to, I took today off and ended up devouring Eating Life with no regrets. Well, maybe one: I don't know when I'll get another morsel from this talented author! ALL her books are excellent, honest, slice-of-life portrayals of interesting characters, but this one took the cake! You'll find yourself inwardly rooting for them, crying for their hardships, and laughing at the sheer genius of their portraiture as they make their way through the story. And, in the end, you'll be thankful you tagged along for a bit.If you're hungry for honest character portraiture in modern writing, then help yourself to this title. You'll come back for seconds -- or fourths! -- by snapping up her other titles, too.

I have a rule. After a year of spending over a hundred bucks a month on book downloads, I joined Kindle Unlimited and promised myself I would only buy one book per month outside their offerings. Eating Life was my January purchase. I enjoyed this book so thoroughly that after finishing it I immediately downloaded another of her novels, The Love Sucks Club (also a 5 star).This story touches on so many aspects of what it is to be in mid-life: the ruts, dreams, losses, and vision of the shrinking future and our desire to fill it with what we finally realize matters before we reach our final destination.I'm a rule breaker, and I don't care. I loved this novel.

Marvelous read. Beth, once again, captivated my complete attentIon. It's nice to read a book so well written and edited that I'm not pulled away with a bunch of errors. The storyline is so free it made me jealous at times. It definitely brought this gypsy soul's life into perspective. Thank you, Beth!

Running from everything, always on the go but you can't hide from love. Wow, what a great journey and with fascinating characters. Casey is an amazing, adventurous woman with a great personality. Of course she has flaws and that makes her even more interesting. I loved how she lives her life and I liked her attitude. This was a journey I wish I could travel with Casey. The story was heartwarming, hilarious, sad, passionate and inspiring. Everything is very vividly described. A true treasure and just perfect. I highly recommend it.

A wild emotional ride through the lives of four intriguing (and at times incorrigible!) characters. They are definitely eating life and you will be devouring pages. It was a pleasure to get to know Beth Burnett's deeply felt, fun-loving voice.

I loved this book! I loved the characters, the lighthearted moments, the heartbreaking moments, the "oh wow I didn't see that coming" moments and the story's overall affirmation of living an authentic life.
