After spending several evenings reading and reviewing the concepts and diagrams in book, I decided to purchase it, deciding that it would make a wonderful addition to my dental library. I was a little bit worried about buying a book that was written over 7 years ago, but many of the concepts and techniques that Dr. Magne discusses still hold true.The book is divided into 9 chapters:Chapter 1 - Understanding the intact tooth and the biomimetic principle.Chapter 2 - Natural Oral EstheticsChapter 3 - Ultraconservative Treatment OptionsChapter 4 - Evolution of Indications for Anterior Bonded Porcelain RestorationsChapter 5 - Initial Treatment Planning and Diagnostic ApproachChapter 6 - Tooth Preparation, Impression and ProvisionalizationChapter 7 - Laboratory ProceduresChapter 8 - Try-In and Adhesive Luting ProceduresChapter 9 - Maintenance and RepairsThe book stresses the biomimetic approach, which I think is more of the swiss school of dentistry. this is a fantastic book. you'll find there pretty much everything you might need about the topic. It has been very carefully thought through too. it is very easy to read, no rubbish, just the practical stuff. The book itself is a piece of art, beautifully printed and finished.look no further!

2 issues:- when I did the buy, ther was an offer of, free quick shipping for the first delivery made at Amazon. After sellecting it the price for shipping was 50 dollars almost. I just realised later. It was offer to me 1/2 payment which I accepted, but I don't think thats a good policy. A little tricky for newcomers from other contries.- When the book irreved it came whit a jag at the hard cover. But actualy i didn t complain. The author takes an revolutionary approach to restoring anterior teeth, a Biomimetic approach. The author goes back to basics and studies nature i.e. the form and function of natural teeth. He then studies how each tissue (dentine/enamel) behaves mechanically (when loaded) and where the forces and stresses concentrate. These findings then lay the foundation as to how teeth should be restored i.e. should they be restored so they are as strong as nature (mimic natures strength) or stronger. The author tends to favour the former approach, and goes about outlining materials and design principles that will achieve this result. He presents an extremely interesting method and commonsense approach to restoring teeth. By reading this book, it allows us to reflect upon the potential disasters (verticle root fractures, decorination) that may be caused by restoring teeth in the traditional way (crowns & posts) whereby making them stronger than nature.

This book is a must have if you enjoy doing bonded porcelain restorations and you want to see how a master does it. The lab work is unbelievable and the photography is excellent. Its like having an Ansel Adams book: you have to see how the best do it so that you have something to aspire to.The cost is pretty high, but so what. You will want to take notes when you read this. If you are really flush with cash, buy one for your lab tech.

This is exactly the book I was looking forward as I detox my home and yard. Our doctor has pointed out that some of the health issues both my wife and I face as we age are related to the toxic environment in and around our home. Go Howard Garrett!

Wow... What a terrible book. I assume that, like most people, the reader starts with a lawn and wants to go organic. This isn't the book for that. It's starts with a clean slate and talks about how to go from there. Very little actual practical information, and lots of information for those who live in the south. What a completely disappointing book with so little to offer. It's more like a book about lawns than it is a book about how the average reader can switch to organic law care on their own. No useful information, at all, about how I can take my lawn to be an organic one. Waste of money.

Excellent book on lawn care.

Very disappointed. A lot of the information was very much opinion based and not fact based. Especially the section on the history of lawns. It just seemed to be the authors speculations on the history of lawns, and that he hadn't actually researched anything. I was really excited about this book because I wanted to manage my lawn organically but I don't feel that this is the best book for that. I wanted to love the book but just can't. This will not stay in my gardening books collection.

There is more HUvB here than Adrienne, but it's a good summary of the theological debates which were going on late in the last century. Makes you glad you did not become a theologian. They held the line of rationality against the modernists and reducionists.

Although I have not yet completed this book, the chapters that I have read were excellent, deep and spiritually thought provoking.

Adrienne is a Catholic mystic whose writing is deeply imbued with the Spirit of Truth and Wisdom which does not come from man but is clearly a gift of love for us all.

Wonderful book - very deep. I'm not very far into it; this book does not lend itself to a quick reading, although it is very well written. It is wonderful to read a page or a paragraph and then ponder and pray it through. This is not an over-the-top devotional style book, but rather a deep study of Mary's character and formation. I highly recommend this book!

Though profoundly Catholic, this is a beautiful theological approach to motherhood, with all it's joys, hardships, disappointments, demands, and irreplaceable adventure, Mary was not soared of any of these, but her love and surrender made the impossible possible. The book is not only a hymn to motherhood but to femininity.

Full disclosure, I haven't finished the book yet. I have read the Sybex CCNA books, Cisco CCNP related books and other books from Cisco Press on other topics, Security, VOIP etc. For an introduction to Cisco, the Sybex CCNA Study Guide by Todd Lammle I think is great, but I really needed something that would dig in and explain routing protocols in depth. Most of Cisco Press puts me to sleep after a few pages, but on the shelf or desk of just about every network engineer I work with is a copy of Routing TCP/IP, Volume 1 (1st Edition). That title seemed to be the defacto standard for all network engineers, and even some engineers that weren't network engineers, so I decided to pick up a copy only to be surprised that it had been updated with a second edition. I figured I'd start at the beginning, when a situation at work dictated that I jump into some specific routing protocols. I found that this book was what I was hoping it'd be. The authors explain things in such a way that the light bulb went off on the inner workings of the protocol. I found I was getting the in-depth knowledge I needed, not just a gloss over and how to configure the protocol at a basic level. The authors somehow manage to provide a wealth of information, without it just looking like they dumped the Cisco Whitepages on a page. It's definitely a technical book, but the information is provided in such a manner that you feel engaged and want to keep reading more. I'm currently going over OSPF, and there are approximately 80+ pages just going over the details of OSPF before the authors even get into how to configure OSPF. And that's just OSPFv2. There is a separate chapter for OSPfv3. It's a hefty book at approximately 800 pages, but the authors are really presenting a lot of material in a human readable format. Translation, you don't have to be a Uber Network Engineer to understand this book. To that I attribute the skill of the authors in relaying the information. I intend the read the full book, but for now I specifically need to concentrate on OSPF and BGP. (BGP is going to be covered in the soon to be released Routing TCP/IP, Volume 2 (2nd Edition) by the same authors and I'll be picking up as soon as it's out. If you are beyond CCNA level or want to move beyond CCNA level, get this book. It's a great for learning and will be a great reference or study guide for any of the routing exams. You won't regret this book.

This book is great for CCNA prep. It is NOT for easy glossing over of concepts. You really need to be interacting with equipment (or a good simulator) to appreciate the information here. There is a lot that is uncovered and as you learn more, you'll find yourself going back to those same sections and learning more that you didn't appreciate the first (or second) time around.The book is big, but not wasteful. I hate seeing other books that brag about some number of pages (usually 1000 is the magic mark) only to find half of it is huge table of contents, summary after summary, or ridiculously large indexes. Not that kind of wasted space here.My only caveat is the rather large section on IS-IS. This could be seen as a waste for those not using it. I wouldn't be surprised if this section is much smaller in future editions.If you're going for in-depth knowledge for CCNA (not just enough to pass the exam, but understanding concepts), this book is a keeper.

Good resource for preparing and studying, I don't understand why the author didn't include EIGRPv6, maybe he forgot it :)Some information about IPv6 is redundant with the Volume 2, in my opinion the Volume 1 should include all about IPv6 and Volume 2 shouldn't, or maybe Volume 2 should only include IPv6 transition mechanisms.

This book, and its subsequent volume, are classics in the Cisco networking world. An indispensable volume, whether you're an ambitious, freshly baked CCNA, or a veteran preparing for CCIE.However, it's not a light read; Doyle gets into the nitty-gritty of all IGRPs, Path Control, Redistribution etc. but I think with a little work, it's absolutely doable to understand everything in this book. Keep studying!

Jeff Doyle's Routing TCP/IP Volumes I and II are simply the de facto standard for routing in the Cisco realm. There are no other texts that I can recommend to a higher degree to fully understand routing within networking. This is not only suggested reading, this is a staple requirement for any serious Network Engineer. Anyone considering their CCIE R/S should not proceed further in their studies before reading and studying in depth these two volumes.

Any time a book is written on the subject of religion, controversy is bound to ensue. Extend the subject to religious extremism and/or fundamentalism and you can ratchet it up a notch. When the book is written by a "non-believer", you can bet that it will come under vicious attack by proponents of the religion in question. Such is the case with Under the Banner of Heaven, Jon Krakauer's expose on Mormonism and Mormon fundamentalism.I read Krakauer's Into Thin Air and was riveted by his writing on the subject of Mt. Everest. I would not place this work in that category, but found it be a very instructive primer on the origins and background of the Mormon religion and its various fundamentalist offshoots.The book essentially tells two stories, the threads of which alternate throughout the book. In one thread, Krakauer tells the story of Joseph Smith, the founding of the Mormon religion and its evolution to the present day. In the other thread, he explores the various fundamentalist offshoots of Mormonism through the prism of a vicious double murder committed by a pair of its proponents.It is difficult to argue with most of the facts presented in relation to the founding and evolution of Mormonism. As Krakauer points out, it is a religion of such recent vintage that the historical record is quite clear. He does make a few assumptions and extensions which have earned him the ire of the official church. In those cases, however, he states his grounds for doing so quite well. It is doubtful that anyone except a true believer in Mormonism would ever write a history to the liking of the church.The beliefs and practices of some of the fundamentalists profiled in the book are scary in their level of extremism, however, they take their beliefs directly from the pages of Joseph Smith, the founder of the religion. Polygamy, or plural marriage, was one of the chief tenets of his church, and one that was stubbornly clung to for many years by the leaders of the church. It can hardly be argued that many heinous instances of statutory rape and sexual child abuse have resulted and continue to occur.While Mormonism has come under attack throughout its history, both for some of its practices and the highly dubious circumstances surrounding its founding (Joseph Smith was likely no more than a charlatan and a fraud who concocted a religion that guaranteed him access to a never ending cache of nubile virgins), very few of the world's religions have better legs to stand on. Old Testament Christianity is filled with barbarous practices and outlandish fables (Noah's Ark, parting the Red Sea, burning bushes). Islam, ditto. I'm not even going to mention Scientology.So, before anyone tears off on a rant concerning Mormonism, just make sure your own house is in order. If you want a quick and dirty outline on Mormon beliefs and foundations, this is a good place to start. If you want a good example of the effects of extremism (not limited to Mormonism) this is also a good example.

A friend recommended this book as a horror story. We are both fans of Jon Krakauer and he has a lot of credibility with both of us. Jon does a fair and factual history of the Mormon church and the rise of polygamy and the FLDS. While the Mormon church has denounced polygamy and the FDLS, this sect continues to thrive in Arizona, Texas, Mexico, Canada and they are now moving into South Dakota. In addition to the background and history, Krakauer zeroes in on several stories of individuals within the church, their exploitation and their escapes. He doesn't sensationalize the stories but uses the stories to explain the impact of the absolute control the FLDS prophets have over all the inhabitants in these FDLS communities where they make their own laws and take advantage of federal and state social programs even while they openly distain the government. Why a horror story? The people in these communities are emotionally, physically and sexually abused. Men of 40 and 50 take "brides" who are 12 and 13 years old. Their parents willingly give them over to these prophets thinking it will assure them a place in heaven. These people think this is normal and the rest of society is heathen. It is an alternative universe, but it goes on here in the US.

Before you buy, be aware that the author is an atheist. There is a constant subtle belittling of any type of belief in God, you get the feeling that he finds faith ridiculous & something for unintelligent people.There are some very interesting historical tidbits about the LDS church & its beginnings that I did not find in other books (I've read about 20). Some of the footnotes are fascinating. It is more about Mormon history & how the violence & control developed than about the one incident of murder in 1984 that is referred to on the cover.

For me the book is 'a page turner' for i could not put it down following the first ten pages. Learning of the development of the LDS faith through Joseph and his followers is clearly explained and w/out prejudice. The information regarding FLDS families enables one to understand the evolution of plural marriages, [which are deplorable --- my personal opinion]. Had no idea why the book was purchased, other than having previously read one of his books. Great writer! Will purchase more of his books.

LIke the author, most of admire the way the Mormon religion generally has a very healthy family oriented approach to life. The idea of golden tablets that are lost (of course) and an angel with a language only the founder can understand (of course) and some of the hypocrisy of the revelations are just part of the basis of most religions. After all they are faith based not fact based. It was a good over view of the beginnings of the LDS Church and the real perils of polygamy when it is mixed with religious authority abuse. All in all it is a good read.

An excellent, thought-provoking dose of realism. Loved the audio book as it is read by the actual author. This story speaks to many who are disgusted with the hypocrisy and violence often associated with religious fundamentalism. Very well organized, well-written, and a pleasure to absorb. Highly recommended.
